Spending a lot of time in the car without free space on the iPhone because everything has been taken out by the pictures, you start to listen to the radio much more. Well, when you have radio coverage.
Back in Wellington there was one radio station I really liked called Hauraki. Funny thing is, for the longest time I thought it was called Hierarchy because when they pronounced it, it sounded like that.
Any how, this radio station has the funniest people talking, always making jokes and often talking about crazy stuff in a funny way. The other best thing about it is the music (of course it’s a radio station dah).
They not only play “new hit songs”. They also play old songs. I heard some really good old Kings of Leon or the Foo Fighters or even some Daughtry which I didn’t know someone else knew but me.
New Zealand has some really cool ‘home’ bands like the Black Seeds (which I like a loot), or the most known Lorde or Six60 which I also really like.
It’s really hard to make a life in the music industry in New Zealand because there are ‘only’ so many people you can reach within the country (4 Mil inhabitants).
They have a very cool festival in March in Wellington called Homegrown where they have all the bands native from New Zealand playing on the same week end.
I made a little playlist on what we heard on the radio during February and March. I would be interested to know if the same songs are playing all over the rest of the world! So if you listen to the radio in your country, please let me know what’s on 🙂
The funny thing is some of those songs we heard them a long time ago in Europe. Like the “That’s how we know”, we first heard this song in Norway back when we did a road trip there two years ago.
