In Montréal, I had three coffee shops around my house so I was always there but when I arrived to Toronto, I was lost. I didn’t know any, nobody had any to advise me.
As in Montréal, there is a blog dedicated to everything that is happening in Toronto: BlogTO. There, I found a list of coffee shops to try. Café Pamenar was on the list and at the moment, Café Pamenar is my favorite.
What I like about this place is the atmosphere. It looks like a bar (because at night it is a bar) but you can work there. You have few outdoor seats when you arrive, then few indoor seats, and then you arrive to a long high table with the bar. The bar is in the middle of the place, making a separation between two spaces with chairs. On the other side of the bar you have a big table where you can sit with people you don’t know or in group if you have a group work to do. There also are some other seats and finally, there is another outdoor bit it is closed by walls. It is very cute.
Coffee is good, Tea is great and nicely served. The seats are confortable enough that you don’t get a backache sitting for hours. The Baristas are very nice and remembers you. The music is all I like (Kings of Leon’s style), not too loud so you can hear yourself think. It’s just perfect.
OH. And the big plus: the sandwiches are SO good!
I would say the minus side would be the Internet. It works but sometimes not too well. (2015, it might have changed since)
Anyway, I definitely recommend Café Pamenar.
