Some of you might already know it, I am leaving for New Zealand in a couple of months. I am leaving for one year with a WHV (Working holiday visa) and my boyfriend to experience work abroad.
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
It is not the first time I will go on a WHV in a far away country. In facts, last year, I was in a WHV in Canada. Yes, I made it to the 2014 French-Canadian WHV! I made it at the last session and I was 6336 out of 40,000 people. I am preparing a post about that so I will not tell you the story a second time here.

I came back home in April and started to resigned to the fact that I was going to stay in France in my home town. My boyfriend was ending his studies in October and he would probably get a job right after. The big adventure was it for me. No more big travel, no more discovering a new culture by living there for a while.

Suddenly, something happened over the summer. Maybe it was our trip to Norway, maybe it was something else. I don\’t know. But my boyfriend felt like going abroad for a year. YES. Of course I\’ll go! I was deeply waiting and hoping to leave again since I\’ve been back. There was no question for me. PLEASE TAKE ME SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I think travelling has become a need for me. I need to travel, to see things. I am a video maker and I am passionate about photography. I love images, telling a story with them. I guess at some point I decided making movies out of videos of others wasn\’t enough. I needed to feel what they felt when they saw the Kjeragbolten or when they shot the Lord of the Rings trilogy movies. I needed to see it with my own eyes, tell my own story.

When we decided to leave (again), we only had to choose a destination. We didn\’t want to do a \”world tour\” just to travel. We wanted a place where we could travel but also work to finance our trips. At first we wanted to go to Chile. Though, it didn\’t had a working holiday visa with France yet (now it has!) so we needed another destination.

We wanted hikes, we wanted landscapes, we wanted adventure. Australia was not in question because I am scared as hell of spiders and I know there are some horribles ones there. More over, there are way too many french people in Australia.

Thanks to Peter Jackson, I knew there was amazing landscapes and so much to see there. My boyfriend jumped on it too and there we were: deciding to take the WHV for New Zealand.
More over, I couldn\’t find any further from home. 19080kms separates my home town from Wellington where we wanted to go. My mom always asked me \”Why are you going to Canada? It\’s on the other side of the world!\” . I always answered it was not that far. Well.. Now she can say it!
Yes Mom, I\’m going to the other side of the world.
