Halona Blowhole: A Dreamy Spot for Couples Photos
Halona Blowhole makes a perfect spot for couples photos. The location feels dramatic, raw, and full of wild island energy. You’ll find it along Oahu’s southeastern coast, just past Hanauma Bay near Sandy Beach, with easy access and sweeping ocean views.
Exploring Oahu’s Southeastern Coast After A&N’s Elopement
The day after their elopement, we explored more of the island with A&N. We chased soft light, wide horizons, and quiet moments together. This time let them slow down and enjoy being newly married.
We discovered Halona Blowhole while researching Oahu. We searched for beautiful locations that felt natural and timeless. Waves crashed below the cliffs as the open ocean stretched endlessly around us. The spot quickly became one of our favorites.

There is a sign saying to not go down to the beach but there was SO MANY people down there. Some were even swimming – which was, if you want my opinion, completely crazy.
Waves were so strong, crashing down on the rocks and also on the beach.
I spotted a wild sea turtle having fun in the waves (photo below). It was so amazing to be able to see a creature in its element.

Finding the Halona Blowhole Cave
We knew a cave waited somewhere along the coast, but finding it took much longer than expected. We walked back and forth along the shoreline, scanning the cliffs and somehow missing what sat right in front of us. Once we finally spotted it, we couldn’t stop laughing.
When you head down to the beach, look to the right. The Halona Blowhole cave sits tucked into the rocks and blends easily into the landscape, especially if the waves steal your attention. The moment you notice it, everything clicks — and the search becomes part of the adventure.
